What Locals Love
- Gresham is noted for having more affordability than nearby areas of Portland because Gresham is located in Clackamas County, not in the notoriously expensive property taxes of Multnomah County.
- There are over 900 acres of open space in the city as well as over 300 acres of parks and 10 miles of trails (including the aforementioned Springwater Corridor
- Gresham’s downtown area is super cute with historic buildings and many interesting shops and restaurants. One of my favorites is the former Sunny Han’s Wok and Grill, now with new management and renamed Wok In. As a celiac sufferer, I can get safe gluten free Chinese food here, which is a real treat for me.
- Many homes are built on larger lots, reflecting the lower relative cost of land compared to Portland.
- The MAX and other public transportation is available, and the 205 makes it pretty easy to get to and from other parts of the PDX Metro area.
Things to Consider
- Most homes at mid six figure prices are older, with a large percentage of homes from the 60s and 70s. These homes may not be updated to today’s standards and have older systems inside – be sure to have them thoroughly inspected.
- School ratings are spotty, with Great Schools giving the highest ranked High School only a 7/10 and with two high schools ranked at a 4 out of 10.
